2nd SOCComM Basic Orientation Seminar

October 22, 2022. The Social Communications Ministry (SOCComM) of the Diocese of Pagadian conducted another Basic Orientation Seminar especially for those parishes who were not able to send their respective SOCCOMM representatives in the first orientation held last July 30, 2022. The seminar workshop was participated by twenty seven representatives coming from seven parishes: San Isidro Labrador (Aurora), San Isidro Labrador (Tambulig), San Jose (Dumingag), San Pedro, Santo Niño Cathedral, San Jose (Pagadian) and Our Lady of Good Voyage (Margos sa Tubig).

In his talk, Fr. Belstar expressed the importance of SOCCOMM as a new evangelizing ministry in the diocese for it endeavors to recover the civilization of love in our highly technological and digital world where our moral and spiritual values are fast disintegrating specially among the young people today. SOCCOMM, considered the ministry of all ministries, aims to be a prophetic presence in social media by spreading the Good News of salvation with the varied activities and important events of the life of the Church with the hope that it would reignite and keep aflame the fire of our faith as Christians.

Three breakout groups followed with the participants choosing their particular role to carry out in their respective parishes. The Directors’ Group was facilitated by Edward de Jesus, while the Photographers’ Group was conducted by Leo Glenn Lagnason and the Writers’ Group was handled by Leah Lagnason with Sr. Marjorie Guingona.

The event ended with a hearty lunch and an open forum with the fresh mandate of becoming bearers of the Good News as new SOCCOMM volunteers in their own parish communities.
