LAUNCHING OF THE SEASON OF CREATION
“PAMINAWA ANG AGULO SA KALIBUTAN”

September 4, 2022. The Diocese of Pagadian joins the Catholic Church the world over in celebrating the Season of Creation which begins on September 1 and ends on the 2nd Sunday of October, which is the celebration of the Indigenous Peoples’ (IP) Sunday here in the Philippines. The Catholic Bishops Conference in the Philippines (CBCP) is calling all of the faithful to base our spirituality on the “loving awareness that we are not disconnected from the rest of creatures, but joined in a splendid universal communion. (Laudato Si # 220). Hence, the need for an ecological conversion, that is, to be active stewards of creation instead of contributing to the serious climate crisis happening in our world because of our abuse caused by our consumeristic values and lifestyles or simply because of our apathy and inaction to what is going on around us.

The launching of this important event was held during the Eucharistic Celebration at 4:00 PM mass at the Santo Nino Cathedral, Pagadian City with his Most Rev. Ronald Lunas, DD celebrating the mass and expounding on the meaning of love, that is a love that is willing to suffer for the greater good and happiness of the loved one. In the same manner, creation is also suffering. It is crying in pain because it is suffering by giving so much to us human beings to the point that it is no longer capable to sustaining life’s beauty and abundance because of our own undoing. It is time for us to listen to the voice of creation calling us to act with love in order to save our endangered Mother Earth.
