The Roman Catholic

Good Friday

At exactly 3:00 PM on April 15, 2022, the solemn celebration of the Lord’s Passion took place at the Sto. Niño Cathedral. The ceremony started with a quiet procession led by the Most Rev. Ronald I. Lunas, STL, DD followed by the six priests: Rev. Fr. Allan Onden Parish Administrator of the Sto. Niño Cathedral, Rev. Fr. Noel Capadngan, Rev. Fr. Nestor Remasog, Rev. Fr. Belstar Ediang, Rev. Fr. Oliver Janohan and Rev. Fr. Michael Cabellon towards the sanctuary.

The reading of the Passion of Christ taken from the Gospel of St. John followed and during the homily, Bishop Bong emphasized that in that Gospel, St. John, presented Jesus as the new and perfect Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Through the sacrifice of Jesus, He redeemed us all from our sins.

The Cross, our redemption, was highlighted during the Veneration of the Cross. It was a beautiful moment when Fr. Noel Capadngan sang the chant three times in the different parts of the Church with the Cross held high for all to see while the faithful gathered were on bended knees venerating the Cross with awe and love.
