The Roman Catholic

Holy Thursday

The commemoration of the Lord’s Supper which marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum was solemnly held at the Sto. Niño Cathedral with His Most Rev. Ronald I. Lunas, STL, D.D. presiding and concelebrated by six priests: Rev. Fr. Allan Onden, the Parish Administrator of the Sto. Niño Cathedral, Rev. Fr. Noel Capadngan, Rev. Fr. Néstor Remasog, Rev. Fr. Belstar Ediang, Rev. Fr. Oliver Janohan and Rev. Fr. Michael Cabellon.

During the mass, the symbolical washing of the feet was done by Rev. Fr. Allan Onden with 12 selected persons representing the different sectors in the community, including women.

The Washing of the Feet is an imagery of what our Lord Jesus Christ did: He humbled himself and took on the form of a servant. As what Bishop Bong emphasized in his homily, service is loving God and others as well. It is the new commandment given by the Lord Jesus to his disciples before He washed their feet. And so, whenever we serve, we are also imitating Christ’s love.

The Celebration of the Lord’s Supper ended with the transfer of the Most Blessed Sacrament to the place of repose where many of the faithful paid homage to our Lord in silent prayer and adoration.
